EXHIBITION OF GLASS ART and CERAMICS

EXHIBITION OF GLASS ART and CERAMICS BY THE STUDENTS OF THE ESTONIAN ACADEMY OF ARTS

Starting on 26 May, ‘OMAVAHEL / BETWEEN US’, a joint exhibition of students of the Estonian Academy of Arts majoring in Glass Art and Ceramics will be housed by Tallinn Botanic Garden.

The title of the exhibition, jointly prepared by Tallinn Botanic Garden and the Estonian Academy of Arts, draws attention to the substance of the works of art in which young artists tackle the issues mostly discussed only between them.
“Between Us” may also stand for being one with the natural environment and the universe, sensing its fragility, aesthetics or, on the contrary, playfulness.

Feelings, experiences and burning issues are laid out in front of the viewer in an attempt to find those who will understand and think the same way.

The exhibition participants majoring in Glass Art are this year’s graduates of the bachelor curriculum Anneli Endla, Marie Järva, Eva-Maria Mirzojeva, Gerti-Carmen Tein, Elvira Beljajeva, Marilin Laas and Rait Lõhmus, MA students Annika Mätlik and Mari-Liis Makus and exchange students Marlene Lahmer (Austria), Ariana Muixi Gutiérrez (Catalonia) and Henriikka Pöllänen (Finland). The supervisors of the course were professor Mare Saare as well as US visiting lecturers Jennifer Blazina and professor Michael Rogers.

The authors of the works who major in Ceramics are graduates of the bachelor curriculum Merilin Põldre, Mart Vaarpuu, Joosep Pihl and Cathy Saarm, exchange students Jovana Ćulibrk (Serbia) and Eveline Hintsala (Finland) as well as MA students Margit Terasmees, Kristel Ojasuu, Eve Hint and Clelia Piirsoo.
The supervisors of the course were professor Urmas Puhkan and visiting lector Kristel Saan.

The exhibits have been placed in various locations throughout the area of Tallinn Botanic Garden.
