Plants in food and beverages
Tallinn Botanic Garden welcomes everyone to this year’s first exhibition “Plants in food and beverages”, which will be held from 26 January to 3 February. The display features a variety of plants that are used for making beverages and food in different parts of the world.
Numerous plants have been used for making a range of beverages and “potions” throughout history. Beverages have been known to have healing, invigorating or sleep-inducing properties, and some have even been regarded as magical or love potions. At the exhibitions, visitors will learn what ayahuasca, muira puama or amarula drinks are, and which drink has been fondly nicknamed “the green fairy”. In addition, the exhibition contains classical and also less widely known herbs, spices and peppers. Tips on how to use them will be provided as well.
