Exhibition “On the Limestone”
The textile artist Ehalill Halliste‘s carpet exhibition “On the Limestone” has adorned various exhibition halls. Now the artist’s beautiful handiwork can also be admired at the Tallinn Botanic Garden.
The artist has drawn inspiration from the colors and patterns of the national stone limestone, which are quite unique in different parts of Estonia, in creating these carpets. As evidence of this, a small collection of limestone samples from Ain Aasa can also be seen. On the limestone substrate with thin, lime-rich soils, characteristic vegetation grows. Along with the rock patterns, we also introduce the plants that grow in the limestone areas. In the dimming autumn, the carpets are complemented by plants on herbarium leaves.
